Taylor Tomasi-Hill
It's been so inspiring observing Taylor's style evolve since the Scott Schuman first shot her years ago- her gorgeous sense of mix-n-match styling to the edgier pieces that she's embraced recently are always a treat. So excited to see where she'll take her style in her new role as Artistic Director at the retail site Moda Operandi.

NYFWF11 ♥ SUSIE BUBBLE

Susie looks absolutely gorgeous! I'm so inspired by her amazing shades of blue and those gorgeous floral sequins trousers. And of course I love her stunning Verdel turban.

All you need

All you need is a few basic looks in your closet that you can dress up or down depending on the occasion. Milanese stylist Alessia Fagioli Galeone's look is exemplary of this fashion principle. Here she takes a favorite basic look of mine, the denim button down and olive trousers, and adapts the look based on the requirements of the day.

When I met her at the Albino Deuxiem show, she had just stepped in from the rain in a super -envious windbreaker and eye catching earrings. One, you might remember that I love to observe how the fashionable brave the rain- it's because their weather friendly approaches always bring a smile to my face and brighten my day. With that said, you can totally understand my appreciation for that windbreaker. And two, how ridiculously cool are those earrings?? They are by an emerging talent whose name I will provide really soon.

Later that day, when showers had calmed, I spotted her again in the same basic look but dressed up with this lovely sequins jacket, and which because of its embellishment, she accessorized with a more sober pair of earrings.

Thanks Alessia for showing us how a basic look can take you a long way.

In the Spirit of Sequins

Kate Dimmock, Fashion Director Town and Country
Sequins are the kind of thing that you either love, hate, or make excuses for like: "Look at this sequin belt by Prada. I usually don't like sequins, but these sequins are really elegant." I know plenty of people who can't stand them, swear they're over-the-top, and are convinced that only fashion victims would be caught dead in them. I would love to hear their current thoughts considering how these beads have stormed our runways and streets for the past few seasons.
For me, it's about how well they are done. One of my favorite sequin pieces is a flapper-inspired mini-skirt that I got on sale at Jill Stuart back in 2005. And I can't tell you how much I obsessed over the the Proenza Schouler T-shirt from the fall 2008 collection. No way I was finding one on sale, so I opted for the Gryphon version which has been a personal style staple . Then there are the sequin leggings that I stumbled upon last year at Express in an effort to satisfy my lust for the Les Chiffoniers sparklers. So glad that I got them, they were perfect for my best friend's slutty-chic themed bachelorette party. Ha Ha! Just kidding, I wear them relatively often. I even wore them on recent trip to the floral market.

Well, whatever your preference, you may not to want to leave the house wearing all your glitter. You might be mistaken for a Liberace impersonator and be forced into a sidewalk performance. But if that's your thing: "Hello Dolly"!

Happy New Year's Eve

For the last few years Galileo and I have celebrated New Years in Madulain, a charming village near St. Moritz. We have rung in the new year in a variety ways during this time, from 30-person dinner parties at St. Mortiz's best restaurant, Chesa Veglia; to grand fetes at the Palace; to cozy dinners at the homes of dear friends. This year we have decided to shake things up a little. We are taking a horse-driven carriage up to Val Fex, a gorgeous valley located at an altitude of 6,560 feet above sea level, where we will have dinner and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. This is our attire for the evening, lots of warm clothes and tons of bubbly. The ride takes about 50 minutes and the temperature will be approximately 14 degrees. Intense right? But totally worth it, as it is so numbingly beautiful. Happy New Year!
Hi everyone, I just wanted to add a little something to this post. I was running so late yesterday, that I wasn't able to share my inspiration for celebrating New Years in Val Fex. (which by the way was super amazing). The first time I experienced the carriage ride to this enchanted place was last March with my dear friend Saidah. It was one of the most romantic evenings of both of our lives. The sky was clearer than clear and full of stars. Since there had been a lot of snowfall in the region, the snow on the path was plowed higher than the carriage itself. So basically, all you saw was white, the clear sky, and the stars. I kid you not, It felt like what I imagine it would feel like being on the milky way. It was a vision and a sensation that touched me at my core, and to which, I was left speechless. The only problem was that I was with a friend and not my very significant other. Yes, it's nice to experience these things with good friends, but this was too much. We joked about hooking up, just on principle. But if we didn't hook up during our cosmopolitan-fueled nights back in NY, when it was perfectly fine to kiss your girlfriends (you know the "hey we were drunk, we were just playing around" moment), then our chance had passed. So, I declared that night to repeat the experience with my very dear husband. And you know something, the experience was exactly what I expected, and more.
Outfit details: Parka by Mr. & Mrs. Fur; sequins t-shirt by Gryphon; stirrup pants by Postcard; black combat boots by Prada. The Miu Miu peep-toe sandals are my favorite sandals. I got them at the year-end sale last year. The price was so good that I also got them in purple. They really do look amazing with everything.
